Matt Shott Celebration of Life

The Arizona Coyotes announced today that the club will be hosting a Celebration of Life for the team's Vice President of Hockey Development, Matt Shott who passed away on December 19 after a courageous battle with cancer. The event will take place on Jan. 5 from 3-5 p.m. at Gila River Arena. 

"Matt was an amazing person who was loved, admired and respected by everyone in the Valley's hockey community," said Coyotes President & CEO Xavier A. Gutierrez. "He was kind, generous and selfless and had a positive impact on so many people's lives. We look forward to celebrating Matt's incredible life with his family, friends and loved ones and promise to keep his memory alive."

The Coyotes will honor Shott with several video tributes and speakers including Coyotes President & CEO Xavier A. Gutierrez, NHL Youth Hockey Regional Director Sean Whyte, Coyotes Chief Hockey Development Officer Shane Doan, Coyotes Senior Director of Hockey Development Business Strategy Lyndsey Fry as well as Carly Accardo and Trevor Shott. Faith Dababneh, Ashlyn Campbell and Julia Slaney of the Arizona Kachina's will also speak. 

Guests attending Matt Shott's Celebration of Life may park in Lot G and enter Gila River Arena at Gate 4 beginning at 2:30 pm. Seating will be available throughout the lower bowl of the arena. 

For those who would like to donate in Matt's honor to the Matt Shott Memorial Hockey Development Fund, please visit ArizonaCoyotes.com/Shott. Funds will benefit the Coyotes' youth hockey programs in Arizona.

Matt Shott touched the lives of everyone in the Arizona hockey community. His incredible passion for people and love of the game of hockey were displayed in his selfless effort to ensure everyone was given the opportunity to play the game he loved so much. 

Matt always put others before himself, and this was best demonstrated with his involvement and leadership to make the Arizona Kachinas the fastest growing girl's hockey program in the country. 

Matt’s legacy will be seen and felt for countless years ahead as his contributions to Arizona hockey has built a lasting foundation for future hockey families to build upon.

Matt Shott will be truly missed by players, coaches, and families within the Arizona hockey community.
