Below is a general recap (not the minutes of the meeting) of the 2022 RMD Annual Meeting this past Saturday (September 17th, 2022) in Denver. Thanks to those that were able to attend the meeting in person. I feel the meeting went very well and was successful.

Here are the highlights:

  • The dates of the RMD Tournament for Youth Tier I and Girls Tier I and Tier II will be March 9 - 12, 2023.
  • The RMD Tournament will be held in Colorado at the Sports Stable and one other facility (TBD).
  • Ted Skinner will be the 2023 RMD Tournament Director.
  • Colorado has designated the Colorado Roughriders as the host organization. Per RMD Policies & Procedures, the RMD Tournament host DOES NOT receive an automatic team slot per age division.
  • The RMD Tournament will have affiliate teams at the Youth 14U, 15Only, 16U and 18U Tier I. Winners of these divisions will advance to the USA Hockey National Tournament.
  • The RMD Tournament will have affiliate teams at the Girls 14U and 16U age divisions. Winners of these divisions will advance to the USA Hockey Girls National Tournament.
  • Team Colorado Girls 19U Tier I will advance to the Girls National Tournament as RMD representative. There is no other Girls 19U Tier I team available to compete in the RMD Tournament.
  • The 2023 Girls Tier I National Tournament will be held in Dallas, Texas. The Dallas Stars Girls Elite teams at 14U, 16U and 19U will be the designated host teams in their respective age divisions and as such, automatically advance to the National Tournament. RMD Policies & Procedures prohibit a National Tournament host team from competing in District Tournament play.
  • The RMD Tournament will have affiliate teams at the Girls 14U, 16U and 19U Tier II. Winners and 2nd place teams of these divisions will advance to the USA Hockey Girls tier II National Tournament.
  • Schedules for the RMD Tournament will be determined in February 2023.
  • The dates of the 2023 RMD Player Evaluation/Selection Camp, for both Youth and Girls at the 2008, 2007 and 2006 birth years will be May 19-21, 2023.
  • The 2023 RMD Player Evaluation/Selection Camp, for both Youth and Girls, will be in Dallas, Texas. Venue to be determined.
  • The cost to players to attend 2023 RMD Player Evaluation/Selection Camp, for both Youth and Girls, will be $329 per player.
  • The RMD will stage a Girls 14 (2009 birth year) Player Development Camp in 2023. Kathleen Smith will be the Camp Director. The Camp will be a commuter Camp.
  • The RMD will be discussing the possibility of combining with the Pacific District and Northern Plains District to stage the Girls 14 Development Camp.
  • The Western Regional High Performance Camp (WRHPC) for Boys 14 (birth year 2009) will be held June 12-17, 2023, most likely again at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO.
  • The cost to players to attend 2023 WRHPC will be $795 per player.
  • In addition to the player fee to attend the WRHPC, Affiliates will be assessed a $50 fee per player, representing their Affiliate, that attends the WRHPC. Each Affiliate will be billed for the players from their Affiliate that attend the WRHPC. Any Affiliate that does not remit the assessed fee will lose their allocation of players to attend the WRHPC the following season.
  • A tentative RMD Budget for the next year was reviewed and approved.
  • Doug Ritter was elected to be a member of the RMD Player Development Committee.

Other RMD business items were discussed but the above are the highlights of the meeting.

Affiliate Presidents should make note of the RMD Tournament dates as well as the Player Evaluation/Selection Camp dates and the WRHPC dates and pass along to the appropriate personnel within their Affiliate.

More information on the Girls 14 Camp dates and location will be made available as details are put together.
